Congresswoman Laura Friedman of California’s 30th District paid recent a visit to Taking the Reins for a barn tour and to lend her support for our equestrian and nature education programs. As an equestrian herself and an avid environmentalist, Representative Friedman appreciated our access to the LA River and the trails in Griffith Park, thanks to the LaKretz Bridge.
“One thing we are always focused on showing our girls is that they can do or be anything they want,” Jane Haven, Executive Director shared. “Having Representative Friedman come here is a great example for our girls. She has built a career on advocacy, promoting others, and doing right for her community.”
Board members Margaret Black and Stephanie Drachkovitch joined us as well to help facilitate the visit and conversations. We are grateful for their willingness to share their passion for our mission with important members of our community.
Thank you to Representative Friedman for taking time out of her busy schedule to learn more about our programs and services. We deeply appreciate her eagerness and excitement about what Taking the Reins is all about.
